"St Ives from Carbis Bay"
Picture
Stage 3
Here I have started to add detail to the foreground hedgerow. I have added some Olive Green and Naples Yellow Hue to the heads of the Cow Parsley and painted the stems on the Thistles.
I have then added some pink thrift to the foreground which as you know is a real favourite of mine. I have then started to paint in other flowers and then add leaf and undergrowth colour and shape to the foreground.
This is where the painting starts to take shape and all of a sudden there is visible progress.
This does take time and I have just added the shape of the petals without any further detail at this stage.

Stage 4

Today I have added much more detail to the flowers. I have used my Nectar Card to add the stems and I have added more depth and texture to the Thrift and the Cow Parsley heads.
Today is Sunday 9th February and outside my window Storm Ciara is making its presence known with heavy rain and storm force winds. These are great days to paint but only if you are inside and warm. However, it is a bit dark today so I do not want to add too much detail in this light so will wait until a brighter day before I continue. The danger is that if I add it today, and it is too heavy, I will need to do it again on another day.
So far I am happy with the progress but anything could go wrong at this stage. I think that with two more sessions, this painting will be complete. These two sessions are quicker sessions as I add more flowers and more details to the flowers.
